A Pigs Tale

A little piece of a piece I wrote in college….

As a child, my favorite book was Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White. It’s a lovely story about a girl, her pig and a spider who saves the pigs life. I loved this story, knew the words by heart. I still do. So, it should come to no surprise that in the summer of 2009 my life would be changed forever, by a pig.

In the summer of 2009, after some time of trying to have a baby to no avail, I found an ad in the classifieds that read: Pot belly piglets $50. Can you imagine my husband’s shock when I said I wanted one? I had never mentioned getting a pig before, but here I was, holding an ad for a piglet. Without words he nodded his agreement, and we were off to see the piglets. That was when I met Samwise Q. Piggles. He was a small black pig with a white sock on his front foot and a little white star on his forehead. He was just weaned and only 3 weeks old. He screamed when he was picked up and put into my arms. But I loved him. So away we took him.
